Flash Video Freezing after 2 seconds - Fix
This week I had experiment a strange problem with Firefox 3 and IE. All Flash videos I saw were interrupted after 2 seconds, I could fast forward and no luck. It seems that this issue was reported by some more user’s, although this didn’t had happen with Opera there were user’s who complain about this using Opera Browser.
At the moment I don´t know what is causing this but it seems that a simple update of the Flash Player will fix this. So if you are reporting this problem just update your Flash Player to version 10 (last) and everything should be back to normal.
Updated Info:
Via www.tweak3d.net I found the following answer:
“It took me a long time to find a fix for this but I’ve found one from another site that worked. Let me note that I tried Firefox beta and I even reinstalled windows at one point and it did not fix the problem. What did fix the problem was disabling java. Tools->Options->Content->Uncheck “Enable Java”, and then restart Firefox for good measure. Haven’t had one video freeze since this change.”

I have this same issue all the time. I have wondered if it has to deal with having a debug version of FP installed. I have had this behavior in Firefox and now in Chrome. Chrome makes it easy just to crash the flash player so after you do that and reload the page it works fine. After upgrading to FP10 I believe I still had the same issue (I am back using FP9 because of development).

from my experience, the freezing when playing youtube videos, just like you describe, occurs when you are keeping firefox open for long time, after closing and opening dozens of websites, so i would guess its a firefox management memory problem.
just my 2 cents.

But in that case it would not happen with IE or Opera. And in fact it does happens also with those browsers. Including also the brand new Chrome from Google.

Same here, which is quite annoying.
Video stop playing ( even if you can see the progress bar downloading the rest of the video ).
In FF but not in IE ( so now I’m using IE just to watch video :/ ) and with the FP9 ( development purpose too ).
As AT said, it happens only when FF is open for long or when you have tons of tabs.
